Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State will back Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election, according to Dino Melaye, his spokesperson.
According to Track News, Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, was chosen as Atiku’s running mate, which led to the governor’s attempt to become the party’s vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections failing.
“Reconciliation is still being done. On it, we’ve come a very long way. We have come a long way,” Melaye said in an interview with Punch that was published on Saturday.
Actually, Wike is a respected party member. He is a dependable member of our party, and I can guarantee that he would fight to advance Atiku Abubakar’s and the PDP’s candidacy.
Members of the committee established by Messrs. Atiku and Wike have started talking in the meanwhile to ensure reconciliation.
Atiku and Wike camp representatives made up the group, which convened on Friday at Government House in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
