A Rivers State chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has reacted to the state governor, Nyesom Wike, meeting with three governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State are among the governors, TrackNews reports.
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose and Senator Olaka Nwogu attended the meeting at Governor Wike’s residence.
None of the entourage spoke after the closed-door meeting with Governor Wike, who has remained silent on the PDP crisis.
On Friday, there were reports that APC governors met with Wike in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with the intention of luring him to the opposition party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
A PDP chieftain who spoke to Vanguard on the condition of anonymity said Governor Wike’s meeting with APC governors was fine.
He also stated that the governors have reasons for not speaking, and that someone will speak at the appropriate time.
“There is nothing hidden under the sun,” the chieftain said.
“They have their reasons for not disclosing what happened now, but when the time comes, someone will speak if he has to.”
