World cancer day: Remembering Nigerian celebrities who bravely survived cancer

As the world celebrates those who have survived Cancer and remembers those who lost their battle with the disease, it is only appropriate to celebrate Nigerian celebrities who have been faced with this same battle and survived.

Here are five Nigerian Celebrities who battled Cancer and won.

Banks W

In 2017, Banky W revealed that he underwent surgery for the treatment of a cancerous tumor on his shoulder.

He revealed that he had first been diagnosed with skin cancer while he was in the university and had it operated on, only for it to resurface years later.

Thankfully, the singer turned politician caught the disease early on, increasing his chance of survival.

Julius Agwu

Julius Agwu was one of the worst cases we saw after he was diagnosed with brain tumor in 2015.

The comedian gave fans, friends and family cause for worry with the drastic weight loss that marked his battle with the disease.

Thankfully, the surgery was successful albeit a harrowing one for the comedian.

Uche Agbai aka Sensei Uche

Back in July 2017, Uche Agbai, appealed to Nigerians for support after revealing that he had been diagnosed with Cancer.

The on-air-personality who needed the sum of $21,000 to sort out his medical bills, finally won his battle with nasal Lymphoma after Nigerians gave massively to his cause.

Karen Igho

Karen Igho revealed her Cancer diagnosis in December 2013.

The Former Big Brother africa housemate who is now happily married and mother to two kids, has since revealed her cancer free status after undergoing treatments in the UK.

Bracket’s Vast

Two years ago, Vast from the singing group, Bracket, revealed that he had been diagnosed with Cancer of the blood, Lymphoma.

He reportedly received treatment in London and has now been pronounced Cancer free.
