World Cup 2022: Wayne Rooney names England starting XI to face Iran in Qatar

Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, has named his England starting XI to face Iran in the Three Lions’ opening game at the 2022 World Cup.

The Three Lions first game of the 2022 World Cup is against Iran on November 21, before the United States of America on 22nd and Wales on 29th November.

England coach, Gareth Southgate on Thursday revealed his 26-man squad to be on the plane

Rooney, who is England’s all-time record goalscorer, has picked his starting XI to take on Iran on November 21 from Southgate’s squad.

Speaking on Track News, named Jordan Pickford in goal and Trent [Alexander-Arnold], John Stones, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw in defence.

The former England striker wants Declan Rice. Kalvin Phillips and Jude Bellingham in the midfield.

According to him, Phil Foden, Buyako Saka and Harry Kane should lead the attack.
