Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has warned that his administration will not condone absenteeism and incompetency in schools as well as the ministry of education.

The Governor through the State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idriss, handed down the warning in a meeting with key players from the education sector, which was held on Friday in Damaturu.

The Commissioner said, “Gov. Buni is concerned by the alarming rate of absenteeism at various ministries and agencies in the state.

“We, therefore, deem it fit to invite all zonal officers to inform them about the Governor’s admonishment and warning.”

Dr. Idriss during the meeting said the government would embark on a follow-up mission through monitoring and supervision of schools across the state to ensure that the governor’s directive is well respected.

The meeting was equally attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Ali Usman, alongside Directors and some staff of the ministry.
