Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara has dismissed claims he plans to defect to the APC, reaffirming loyalty to the PDP, the party under which he was elected in 2023.

The rebuttal follows calls by Minister of State for Defence and former governor, Bello Matawalle, urging Lawal to join the APC for the state’s progress. Matawalle accused the governor of playing “hide-and-seek” politics and urged him to align openly with the ruling party.

Lawal’s media aide, Mustafa Kaura, said the rumours are baseless and that the governor remains committed to the PDP.
