Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Zamfara State Command has reiterated that its personnel will maintain a high level of professionalism in order to protect people’s lives and property.

This was revealed by the Commandant, Mohammad Bello Muazu, who also assured that the Corps personnel in Zamfara State Command will remain disciplined and neutral during the electioneering period in preparation for the 2023 elections.

Commandant Muazu asserted that officers and men of the Corps are professionally groomed to ensure the protection of lives and property, critical infrastructure, and national assets during a courtesy visit to the State Command Gusau by state officials of the National Human Rights Commission Zamfara State chapter.

The State NSCDC chief stated that the Corps, as a stakeholder in election matters, will do everything possible to ensure a smooth 2023 electioneering period.

He reaffirmed that the public’s trust in the Corps has been maintained, sustained, and strengthened over the years.

According to Commandant Muazu, the NSCDC is preparing to join forces with other sister agencies to prevent any kind of insecurity from impeding electorates from carrying out their civic duties as enshrined in the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s constitution.

The commandant also stated that the Corps will act in accordance with Dr. Audi Ahmed Abubakar’s visions and missions, which are to reposition, rejuvenate, restructure, and revigorate the Corps in accordance with international best practices.

Commandant Muazu agreed to collaborate and synergize with the Zamfara State Human Rights Commission to effectively sanitize the electoral processes in accordance with the Federation’s existing laws.

Meanwhile, Abdullahi Abubakar, the State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission in Zamfara State, praised the Corps, particularly Commandant Muazu, for the partnership and collaboration enjoyed with the Corps thus far.

According to the State Coordinator, Commandant Muazu’s background demonstrates his professionalism and leadership abilities.

He asked the Corps for greater cooperation and understanding in handling electoral matters.

Mr Abdullahi Abubakar stated that the purpose of the visit to the Corps was to reaffirm the understanding and partnership that had previously existed between the Corps and the NHRC, especially as the electioneering activities leading up to the 2023 General Elections approached.
