Says Bayelsans know who executed all the projects he is commissioning.
The attention of the Niger Delta Advocates For Good Governance has been drawn to some purported and misleading claims in circulation that all projects currently being commissioned in Bayelsa State are projects initiated and completed by the Diri led prosperity Government.
The development of Bayelsa State over the years had been truncated by political instability and it’s associated insecurities until the Dickson led Restoration Government assumed office in 2012.
The dividend of the political stability that the Dickson led Restoration Government brought to the state includes the major advancement of all three age long abandoned senatorial roads linking the three districts to the city capital, the construction of over 100 health centres across the state which were none existent, the establishment of over 12 boarding schools and about 6 tertiary institutions with its sustaining legal policies and boards.
World class diagnostic centre Yenagoa
The world class diagnostic centre, the 60 tonne starch processing plant in Ebedebiri which elders, youths and women repeatedly lauded the Dickson led Restoration Government for, the drug Mart, referral hospitals that drastically dropped the existing high mother and infant mortality index in the state, and the pride of Ijaw land, the Bayelsa International airport and many others are proofs of the courageous efforts of the Dickson led Restoration Government even though politics blinded Bayelsans from these realities.
The Diri led government has been fortunate to have inherited a stable and tolerant political climate as well as copious completed projects waiting only to be commissioned and a clear and detailed developmental pathway for the state, first of it’s kind in the history of Bayelsa State.
Unfortunately, the deliberate attempt by the Diri led Prosperity Government to obliterate the records of his predecessors by misinforming the general public of the origin and status of the projects being commissioned has become too appalling to be swept under the carpet.
It is worthy of note that the misleading claims by members of the Diri led Prosperity government is not only falsehood in context and content, but raises great concerns and questions about the credibility, competence and transparency of the Prosperity Government.
To set the records straight, it is important to state that almost all the projects that has been commissioned and some still under construction under the Diri led Prosperity Government were projects initiated and/or embarked upon by the Restoration Government led by Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
Recall that the Restoration Government led by Senator Henry Seriake Dickson embarked on the long awaited Bayelsa West Senatorial District Road Project which was awarded to Setraco Construction Company which the Company was fully mobilized to almost completion stage of the Road Project before the expiration of the ternure of the Restoration Government.
Senator Dickson under the Restoration Government built a world-class standard cassava processing factory from foundation to completion fully furnished with all necessary modern equipments for proper functioning at Ebedebiri Community in Sagbama Local Government Area.
Senator Dickson under the Restoration Government also established a standard modern poultry farm built from foundation to completion fully furnished with all necessary equipments for proper functioning at Ebedebiri Community in Sagbama Local Government Area.
Majority of these projects were awarded to reputable construction companies with almost full mobilization to completion stage before the expiration of the tenure of the Restoration Government.
The Coordinator of the Niger Delta Advocates For Good Governance, Comr Godswill Perekeme recalls that the Restoration Government, scheduled 13th of February, 2020, for the Commissioning of the starch processing factory project, but had to postpone it due to the Supreme Court ruling on the same day in favour of Senator Douye Diri and Senator Lawrence Ewhurudjakpo, as Governor and Deputy respectively.
To further set the record straight, it is important to note that the Prosperity Government upon resumption in 2020, only inspected the starch processing factory, the poultry farm and fish pond at Ebedebiri and Angalabiri Communities respectively, which were already completed by the Restoration Government.
Hon. Perekeme further urged the Prosperity Government to creatively initiate socio-economically viable and sustainable developmental projects that will positively impact on the wellbeing of the people as well as improve the internally generated revenue of the state.
The projects initiated and executed by the Restoration Government were borne out the need to liberate the people and the state from the undesired subsistent and non-sustainable economic model to an enviable and proactive model, placing the state in an enviable position in the comity of states. It was never a tool for gaining political acceptance through misinformation as is being practiced by some in the Diri led Prosperity government.
