Chairman of Plateau LGA who had been kidnapped is released

Henry Jan Gotip, the chairman of Kanke LGA in Plateau state, was liberated after being taken hostage by unidentified gunmen on September 6. Gotip was released by his captors yesterday, September 7, at around 11 p.m., according to a statement made by DSP Alfred Alabo, spokesperson for the state police command. The assailants broke into Gotip’s home in Kwang, opened fire randomly, and afterwards kidnapped him and took him somewhere else. The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command will shortly debrief the Chairman of the Kanke Local Government Council in order to gather information that will enable the capture of his kidnappers.
