Police arrest 3 over abduction of female magistrate in Ilorin
By Adeleye Kunle
Three suspects have been arrested by the police in Kwara State over the abduction of a senior magistrate in the state, Mrs Jumoke Bamigboye.
Jumoke Bamigboye, the wife of a former military administrator of Bauchi and Osun states, was abducted on Saturday by gunmen and released on Monday night after three days in captivity.
She was abducted at the Oko-Olowo axis of Ilorin, the state capital, while she was returning from her farm.
The kidnappers reportedly demanded N100 million ransom for her release but later pruned their demand to N50 million after negotiations with the family.
Although her husband, Colonel Theophilus Bamigboye (retd) confirmed that ransom was paid to the kidnappers, he did not disclose the specific amount paid for her release.
He, however, said she was taken to the hospital for medical treatment after her release from the kidnappers’ den.
Kwara State Police Command’s spokesperson, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the development on Tuesday in Ilorin, revealed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the abduction while efforts are still ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects involved
