Niger LG polls: APC clinches 22 out of 25 seats

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has clinched 22 out of the 25 chairmanship seats in the local government councils polls organized by the Niger state Independent Electoral Commission, NSIEC, on Thursday.
The Director Operations Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, Comrade Ibrahim Aliyu Tunganwawa, announced the results in Minna.
He explained that the results of the remaining three LGs are being awaited, adding that 13 political parties took part in the election.
According to him, “Due to some problems experienced during the conduct of the local government councils election, NSIEC will conduct rerun elections in two wards of Rafi and Kontagora Local Government Councils.
“The two wards are that of Kusherki and Tungan Kawo scheduled to hold this sunday”.
The director operations of NSIEC described the local government councils election as peaceful and orderly inspite some minor hitches
Three local government councils whose results are being awaited include Katcha Agwara and Borgu.
