CSO claims that CNA vacates office Feb 2023 by civil service rules
According to civil service rules, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Ojo Amos Olatunde, vacates office in February 2023, according to a coalition of civil society groups.
This was revealed at a press conference in Abuja on Sunday by a coalition comprised of the Centre for Public Accountability and Transparency, CPAT, the Society for Civic and Gender Equity, SoCEGE, the Partnership for Good Governance, PGG, and the Peoples Alliance for Indigenous Rights, PAIR.
According to the group, the CNA’s work in the office during his 3-month pre-retirement notice is not a violation of civil service rules.
Mr. Kanjal Awam, the coalition’s spokesperson, stated at a press conference that the National Assembly Service Commission would always perform its functions in a credible manner by following due process.
“As we all know, the CNA has already given a three-month notice to begin retirement leave on February 14, 2023, in accordance with Federation civil service rules.”
“We wish to state unequivocally that the CNA should be allowed to complete his tenure as stated in the service rules and interpreted by the Head of Service, whose role in interpreting the National Assembly service age in 2020 cannot be overlooked,” he said.
