Peter Obi: My presidential ambition for Nigeria’s future
The 2022 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination is currently being taken by 21 inmates at the Jos Correctional Center who are serving various jail terms (SSCE).
ASC Geofrey Longdiem, Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service’s Plateau Command, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Jos (NAN).
According to Longdiem, the 21 inmates taking the National Examination Council (NECO) examination within the correctional facility include 15 males and six females.
He explained that the modification was part of the Service’s mission to make prisoners useful to themselves, their families, and society after they served their sentences.
“It’s part of our mission to help inmates reform so they can be useful to themselves and society after they’ve served their sentences.”
“It is consistent with our mission of rehabilitating, reforming, and reintegrating inmates into society via a variety of means and vocations.”
“Knowledge is power,” he says, explaining that the school’s mission is to “reform inmates with skills while also providing formal education.”
Longdiem thanked the individuals, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), religious organizations, and government agencies who donated funds to register the inmates for the examination.
According to Track News, the examination, which began on November 23, will conclude on December 21.
