PDP explains why Atiku wants to sell Nigeria’s refineries in 2023
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has explained why its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, wishes to sell Nigeria’s refineries.
According to Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman for the PDP’s Presidential Campaign Council, Atiku chose to sell Nigeria’s refineries in order to fund beneficial projects in the country.
Ologbondiyan criticized the Nigerian government for wasting money on rehabilitating the country’s oil refineries.
He revealed this on Tuesday’s episode of the Arise TV Morning Show.
“Rather than looking for money and pumping it into failing ventures and refineries, Atiku is saying, why not sell them and invest in successful ventures,” Ologbondiyan writes.
“Atiku is saying that we should generate funds from refinery sales and reinvest them in the economy; I believe that policy is sound.”
If Atiku is elected President of Nigeria in 2023, he has stated repeatedly that he will sell the country’s oil refineries.
During the PDP’s presidential campaign in Lagos yesterday, Atiku said he would sell all of Nigeria’s refineries and use the proceeds to empower young people.
