Again, Kogi Assembly summons commissioner, others over alleged extortion by KOTRAMA
Kogi State House of Assembly has frowned at the unabated arbitrary arrest and outrageous fines doled out to offenders by the men of the Kogi State Traffic Management Agency, KOTRAMA.
To this end, the house has invited the Commissioner for Transportation, the Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, the state’s Security Adviser and the General Manager of KOTRAMA to appear before it to clear themselves of the awful activities of the agency.
This is not the first time the house will be summoning them over the alleged sharp practices by officers of KATROMA in the state.
Sponsoring a motion of urgent public importance, the member representing Omala Constituency, Prince Hilarion Collins Musa called on the House to intervene in the awful activities of the Kogi State Transport Management Agency ( KOTRAMA).
He stated that these awful activities included, alleged extortion and arbitrary arrest of motorists within the Lokoja metropolis and the enforcement of outrageous fines which has caused various forms of hardships to vehicle owners and transporters.
He stressed that these activities if not checkmated could heighten the sufferings of travellers during the Yuletide season.
Supporting the motion, the member representing Igalamela/ Odolu Constituency, Cosmas Atabor noted that the KOTRAMA law was a duplication of duty as other agencies like the Federal Road Safety and Vehicle Inspection Officer, VIO are already doing these jobs
