Again, Kanu restates end to sit-at-home in Southeast
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu yesterday restated that there should be no more sit-at-home in the Southeast.
His lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, said Kanu reaffirmed his position when he met with his lawyers and other Igbo leaders.
The IPOB leader, who is on trial for alleged terrorism, has been in the custody of the State Security Service (SSS).
Enforcers of the protracted sit-at-home claimed they were doing it to push for Kanu’s release.
Last week, Kanu wrote to his Finland-based supporter, Simon Ekpa, directing him never to call for any more sit-at-home.
Ejiofor tweeted: “Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was today (yesterday) visited by His Majesty, Eze Chukwuemeka Eri, Eze Akajiovo Igbo Nile, Ezeora XXXIV of Aguleri, and Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Uba, at the facility of the SSS Headquarters Abuja where Onyendu is still currently being held in solitary confinement.
“The visit was unprecedented, as fruitful and productive discussions were exclusively held with Onyendu.
“During this visit, Onyendu reiterated his firm and unequivocal condemnation, and total cancellation of the senseless sit-at-home in the Southeast, hitherto enforced in the entire Southeast states by the enemies of our people.
“Other crucial messages conveyed to them by Onyendu will be made public as given by Onyendu in due course.
“Be assured UmuChineke that we are speedily approaching the end of the tunnel. ChukwuOkike Abiama is always on the throne, and this trying period will soon become history.”
