EPL: You’re not a big club – Simon Jordan tells Newcastle United
Former Crystal Palace Chairman, Simon Jordan has told Newcastle United they are not a big club yet and should not be measured alongside the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool or even Tottenham.
According to him, it would take twenty years and a lot of money for the Magpies to join the league of big clubs in the Premier League.
“Newcastle have got 20 years to catch up with the brands of clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal in the Premier League,” he said on talkSPORT.
“They are going to spend a lot of money to do that but they are nowhere near.”
He admitted that Eddie Howe’s side are doing very well in the league at the moment but are nowhere near the Premier League big six clubs in the commercial operation.
“I maintain this view and I don’t care how many Geordies want to have a go at me. The bottom line is, you are a big club in Newcastle.
“You’re not a big club on the world stage, you will be. They are a big club in Newcastle but they will be a big club on the global stage,” he said
