Wike Trying To Be Nice To Peter Obi After He Jilted Him – Shehu Sani

A lawmaker of the 8th National Assembly, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the sudden ‘romance’ between the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and the candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded presidential election, Peter Obi.

Recall that Obi, alongside other top contenders, lost the February 25th presidential election to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Rivers was one of the states won massively by Tinubu during the election. There have been speculations that Governor Wike, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) helped the APC candidate win in the state despite their political difference.

Before the elections, Wike had vowed to work against his party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar, but refused to name the candidate he would be supporting openly.

However, days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issued a Certificate of Return to Tinubu, Wike on Saturday said Obi was his hero of the February 25th presidential election, saying that the former Governor of Anambra State ensured a president-elect of the Southern extraction emerged.

TrackNews reports that Wike made the statement while addressing Igbo traders at a town hall seeking their support for the March 18 gubernatorial election in Rivers State during the weekend.

Reacting to Wike’s statement, Senator Sani said the Rivers State Governor’s relationship with Obi could be likened to that of a man who jilted his lover and is trying to pacify her after marrying another lady.

The Kaduna State politician believed Wike was trying to be friendly with Obi and his supporters when he had supported and shifted camp to Tinubu during the presidential election.

“Wike and Peter; its like trying to be nice in order to continue a relationship with a lady you jilted, after marrying another,” Sani wrote on his Twitter page on Saturday, March 11.
