My Wife Will Determine Whether to Honour Tinubu’s Offer of Ministerial Post or Not – Ex-Governor
A former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said he would need to consult his wife first for approval if offered a ministerial position by President Bola Tinubu. Wike, who was speaking in a BBC Pidging interview, said his wife and close associates are the first set of people he would consult if the offer comes. He however said that no such offer has been made by the President.
Wike, who left last week as Governor of Rivers on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, has visited Tinubu once. He was believed to have worked for the election of the president against his own party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. Saying he requires some rest after quitting office last week, Wike said “Tinubu has not informed me about getting an appointment; I’m not too big to serve my country, but he has never told me that he would give me an appointment.“If he asks me, the first thing I will do is ask my wife and friends what they think about it.
“I will also assess myself if I’m prepared. I will never do what I’m not ready for,” he remarked.
