Inspector-General of Police Visits Kwara Police Command, Calls for Increase in Manpower, Better Welfare
In North-Central Nigeria, the Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police Force, Kayode Egbetokun on Friday called for an increase in manpower to effectively build a police force competent in fighting crime.
Egbetokun, speaking at the Police Headquarters in Ilorin in his first official visit to Kwara State since his appointment, said that he intends to build a police force willing to support the government’s agenda in economic growth, social integration and the political development of the country.
He also assured that attention is being paid to the training of the police, and revealed that a program will soon be introduced to ensure that every policeman will attend at least one week of training in a year.
Speaking on welfare, the IGP said that great attention is being paid to the pension of the police officers, stating that welfare does not necessarily mean an increase in salaries.
