Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in the political crisis in Rivers State, calling it “extra-legal.”

Falana’s comments come after Tinubu intervened in the conflict between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Federal Capital Territory minister, Nyesom Wike, last year, leading to a peace pact between the parties.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Falana emphasized that there is no constitutional provision for such interventions outside the law. He stated, “The President can only wish them well. And if they have taken their battle to the court of law, they just have to follow through and allow the law to take its course.”

Falana stressed the importance of adhering to the rule of law and urged those involved in the Rivers State crisis to respect legal processes. He emphasized that any resolution must be within the framework of the law.
