Boxing: Abbey extends unbeaten run with title defence
Nigeria boxing sensation and WBF Intercontinental champion, Aina Abbey, has extended her undefeated streak after defeating Tanzanian Lulu Kayage Sunday night in a thrilling showdown.
According to the report Abbey now holds an impressive record of 11 wins, nine of them knockouts as she beat Kayage (8-11-4-2KOs) by unanimous decision (60-54, 60-54, 60-54) after six rounds of their female international super-flyweight contest at the National Stadium in Lagos.
Under the banner of LeBond Management, Abbey has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the world of boxing. The 26-year-old’s remarkable track record, marked by a series of dominant victories, positions her as a formidable champion in the flyweight division.
Nicknamed ‘Iron Abbey’, her tenacity and punching power earned her the WBF Intercontinental title in February 2022 when she defeated United Kingdom’s Laura Pain at the City Coast Centre in Portslade, East Sussex.
In the main event of Lagos Boxing Initiative on Sunday, Abbey faced the veteran Tanzanian Kayage, whose record showcases her experience in the ring. The fans were treated to an enthralling contest between the two female pugilists
