Bode George Urges Tinubu to Revisit 2014 Confab Report
Bode George, a Yoruba elder statesman, has called on former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu to reconsider the 2014 National Conference report.
He emphasized that the current constitution is not effective and that revisiting the recommendations from the conference could lead to a better future for Nigeria.
In response to recent agitation for secession in the South-West, George criticized those advocating for separation, stating that the government should be respected and that there are better ways to address grievances. He highlighted the need for civic and history education in schools to prevent such actions in the future.
George also expressed concern about the lack of state police, which he believes could have prevented the recent attack on the government house. He emphasized the importance of education and history in understanding past mistakes and avoiding them in the future.
Regarding the agitation for secession, George stated that it is not only in the South that there is dissatisfaction with the current political structure. He mentioned that there are educated individuals in the North who also believe the current system is not working.
In conclusion, George urged for a reexamination of the 2014 National Conference report, stating that its implementation could lead to a more equitable and just society for all Nigerians.
