…SAYS GOV OKOWA IS THE MAN OF THE MOMENT IN AFRICA.
Secretary to Delta State Government, Rt Hon Festus Ovie AGAS said Delta has never witnessed the colourful mood which hosting of the 21st African Athletics Championship has brought to the state since 1999.
The SSG expressed delight and joy that the state is in the eyes of the world at the moment, adding that Africa is a special and valuable continent which is why the rest of the world cannot and will never ignore happenings in the black continent.
Executive Assistant to the governor of Delta State on Communications, Dr Fred Larimore Oghenesivbe quoted the SSG as saying that hosting of the African Athletics Championship is one of the best legacies of the Okowa administration.
AGAS further disclosed that what the championship seeks to achieve is to make Delta State, the preferred destination in quality sporting events which Gov Okowa earnestly yearned for in the Smart Agenda good governance blueprint.
“I commend His Excellency the Governor for his visionary leadership and political will-power to drive every project, programmes and policies to logical conclusion.
“it’s obvious that Gov Okowa is the man of the moment in Africa. He has proved his political detractors wrong through proactive leadership and excellent performance in his core duties as can be seen in huge infrastructure development, job and wealth creation as well as remarkable track records in sports development.
“Asaba 2018, is now a reality and the gigantic Stephen Keshi International Stadium is bubbling with activities. We are proud as Deltans to host the entire African Artheletes, ” Agas said.
