Police Arrest Gunmen Who Shot 10-month-old Baby
Some armed men who shot a 10-month-old baby in Macheke, Zimbabwe, have been apprehended by the police.
The armed robbers allegedly visited the home of one Shephard Haruzivi, a business man in the night.
Haruzivi had fired two shots at the seven-man gang and they returned fire in the process a stray bullet killed 10-month-old Moreblessing Haruzivi.
The baby was shot in the chest. The baby’s mother Delphine Makokola also suffered serious injury as the bullet hit her on the left lower breast.
The police tracked the gang through a Toyota Fortuner vehicle which was stolen from the family.
Before the arrest the gang shot at two of the police officers but they were overpowered. Two out of the six members that were caught have been taken to a hospital for treatment.
National police spokesman, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the police is currently searching for the seventh member of the gang who is currently on the run.
In other news, a notorious bandit leader in Zamfara State, Bello Turji has released about 70 kidnapped victims in his custody.
The bandit leader is reported to have released the victims following a peace talk between him and the local authorities in the state.
Abdullahi Shinkafi, an aide to Governor Bello Matawalle, made this known in an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday. Read more
