Breaking: President Buhari Appoints New Inspector-General Of Police
TRACKING____Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of a new Inspector-General of Police to take over from Mohammed Adamu.
TrackNews understands that the President appointed the Deputy Inspector-General, DIG, Usman Alkali Baba as the Acting Inspector-General of Police, IGP.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, who disclosed the appointment on Tuesday during a briefing with state house correspondents in Abuja, noted that the appointment is with immediate effect.
It will be recalled that President Buhari had in February 2020, extended the tenure of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu by three months.
This development was disclosed by the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He noted that the extension of the IGP’s tenure by the president is to allow enough time to select a new police boss.
