Hanifa Abubakar: Court Remands Suspected Killer’s Wife
A Kano Chief Magistrate Court has remanded Jamila Sani, wife of the confessed killer of a five-year-old girl, Hanifa Abubakar.
www.tracknews.ng reports that the state Police Command arraigned Jamila on a charge of alleged concealing of a kidnap victim with her husband, Abdulmalik Tanko.
During a court proceeding on Friday, the prosecution alleged that she concealed a kidnapped victim in her house for a period of five days.
According to the prosecution, the offence contravenes Section 227 of the Penal Code.
Jamila, however, denied the content of the First Information Report read by the prosecutor.
Consequently, the prosecuting counsel, Barrister Lamido Soron-Dinki, prayed the court to remand the defendant in police custody pending when the case diary is ready.
The Presiding Judge, Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibril, ordered the defendant to be remanded in police custody and adjourned the sitting to February 2, 2022, for further mention.
In a related development, a new report has emerged that Tanko was sacked from a private school, Ete Inoh International School, in Tudun Wada, over alleged misappropriation of funds.
The report further stated that Tanko functioned as a teacher and headmaster before he was relieved of his duty in the school.
According to the report, the suspect relocated to Tudun Murtala after he was sacked from the school.
“After he was sacked from the first school he served as a headmaster on alleged misappropriation of funds, he then settled in Tudun Murtala where he established a school, North West.
“As the business boomed he now rented a house in Kwanar Dakata in Yankaba and established another school called Nobel Kids Academy Nursery and Primary School from where the kid was abducted.”
