●●Trail others as community remains deserted
Ondo State Police Command, yesterday, arrested three suspects involved in the brutal killing of a naval officer in Idoani community, Ose Local Council of Ondo State.
The suspects were arrested in various parts of the community while attempting to flee the town a few hours after committing the crime.
The deceased officer, identified simply as Akingbohun, was allegedly killed by hoodlums, who hit him with an iron rod following an altercation with a commercial motorcyclist.
According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olufumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, three other suspects involved in the murder of the naval officer are still being trailed.
Odunlami-Omisanya said: “Following the swift intervention of our men, three of the suspects were arrested. Three other suspects involved in the killing of the naval officer are currently on the run.
“But, I can assure you that they too will be arrested and made to answer to the crime.” Recall that Idoani was thrown into pandemonium on Tuesday when a six-man mob killed a naval officer attached to the Navy School in Imeri.
Following the development, military personnel in large numbers invaded the community to apprehend those responsible for the death of their colleague.
At press time, the community was still deserted for fear of more arrests by security operatives who were stationed in the community.
