Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the coming presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, will today, Monday, January 7, flag off his campaign in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

This was was disclosed by Mr Bode Ogunmola, spokesman of PDP in Kogi state and secretary of the media and publicity committee of the party’s campaign council in the state.

According to Daily Trust, he said all arrangements had been made for a successful campaign billed to hold at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium.

Going further, he added that the earlier issues surrounding the use of the Confluence Stadium had been resolved and that the state government had given the party approval to use the facility for its presidential campaign.

Meanwhile, Track News had reported that the Kogi state presidential campaign council of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) raised alarm over alleged plots to attack the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in Lokoja.

Atiku, the PDP’s presidential candidate is billed for a rally in the state capital on Monday, January 7. The campaign council fingered Governor Yahaya Bello and the APC in the alleged plot, in a statement sent to Legit.ng on Sunday, January 6, by its head of media and publicity, Usman Austin Okai.

Part of the statement read: “Four impeccable sources have confirmed that this plot has been bankrolled by the Kogi state government, led by its accidental governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello and will start with a calculated attempt to harass the presidential candidate of our great party, His Excellency, Atiku Abubakar GCON who is scheduled to visit Kogi state in a few hours from now.

“The council wishes to remind Nigerians that reports were initially made about a well funded carried out by agents of the Kogi state government which targeted a mass destruction of campaign banners and other publicity materials of the PDP in Kogi state less than a week ago.

“It is therefore for the records that it is considered highly important to notify all lovers of democracy that indeed, the campaign of bitterness of the APC and the Kogi state government against the PDP is set to adopt a new dimension starting from tomorrow.
