SILGA WARD 14 COUNCILLOR CONDEMNS MILITARY INVASION OF EKENI AND EZETU COMMUNITIES
•••CALLS ON THE STATE GOVERNMENT FOR URGENT INTERVENTION
TRACKING_____The Councillor representing Southern Ijaw Ward 14, Hon. Japhet Douyefa, has condemned the invasion of Ekeni and Ezetu Communities by men of the Nigerian Military on Wednesday 25th March 2020.
In his statement, he described the act which led to the loss of lives as an unwarranted intimidation, provocation, molestation and oppression of the peace-loving people of Ekeni and Ezetu communities.
Information at our disposal indicates that the invasion led to the death of a person, another shot in the leg while Chiefs and Elders were intimidated by the military who according to sources were in search of persons from other communities.
Hon. Japhet further stated that Ekeni and Ezetu are peace loving communities over the years. He said that due to drastic measures put in place in those communities, criminal habitation has been at a zero level.
He therefore called on the leadership of the military to properly investigate the act and do justice to those communities. He equally called on the Bayelsa State government for urgent intervention as the people have been thrown into fear and displacement coupled with loss of lives.
