98 crime suspects arrested in Abuja

TRACKING____THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command on Thursday paraded 98 suspects who were allegedly involved in kidnapping, armed robbery, human trafficking, among other criminal activities.

The suspects were arrested in separate operations beginning from January 2020 till date.

Briefing reporters, the Commissioner of Police Bala Ciroma said that 15 AK 47 rifles, 21 locally-made pistols, two pump action, 17 cars and 379 ammunition were recovered from them.

Other items recovered were one tricycle, 26 bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, three packs of Diazepam, four packs of Exol, 18 bottles of Codeine syrup, 79 phones, four pairs of military camouflage and cutlasses, and knives, among others.

Some of the suspects who spoke with The Nation admitted to the crimes, vowing to repent if given a second chance.

One of the suspects, 35-year-old John Ajav, was said to be a notorious local gun fabricator, who fabricated pistols from his hideout in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

Ajav was arrested after one of his patrons, Obi Michael was arrested by the police operatives at Sabon Lugbe in possession of a locally made pistol, which he claimed he was trying to deliver to his buyer..
