APC reacts to herdsmen attempt to assassinate Gov Ortom
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has reacted to the assassination attempt on the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, by suspected herdsmen militia.
APC, while condemning the attack, however, warned Nigerians against politicizing crime.
Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe, the National Secretary of APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, stated this in a statement.
Akpanudoedehe commended security operatives for repelling the attack on Ortom.
He said: “We thank God for his safety and praise the dutiful security details for repelling the attack.
“We are confident our security services will do everything to unravel the criminals behind the attack and bring them to book.
“The APC reiterates that we must all collaborate to end criminality in all forms. A crime is a crime and should not be politicised in any way”.
Herdsmen had attacked Ortom in his farm at Tyo-mu village, along Makurdi – Gboko road.
Reacting, the governor had alleged that linked the assassination attempt to Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN..
The governor claimed that MACBAN had concluded plans to assassinate him over his position on open grazing.
Ortom alleged that the Myetti Allah took the decision to eliminate him during a meeting they organised recently in Yola.
