Breaking: Buhari inaugurates minimum wage implementation committee

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday, May 14, inaugurated a committee to implement the new national minimum wage, almost one month after he signed the bill into law.

Winifred Oyo-Ita, the head of the civil service of the federation, was appointed the chairman of the committee.

The committee, according to Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation, had four weeks to complete its assignment.

Consequently, the inaugural meeting is scheduled to hold on May 20.

Members of the committee include the ministers of labour and employment, finance, health, education and budget and national planning.

Others are the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, director general, budget office, secretary of the federal judicial service commission, secretary, National Assembly Service Commission and chairman, National Salaries, Income, and Wages Commission, who will serve as the committee secretary.

Meanwhile, Tracknew.ng had reported that the federal government would on Tuesday, May 14, in Abuja inaugurate the N30,000 new national minimum wage implementation committee, almost one month after President Muhammadu Buhari signed the bill into law.
