Cross River PDP Crisis Depeens, State Chairman Suspended

TRACKING______The Cross River State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) crisis has taken a sharp turn, the chapter Chairman, Edim Inok has been suspended by his ward executive committee members (ward 3, Calabar Municipality).

According to his ward exco,

“We discovered with shame and dismay the conduct of our member from the ward and who is the State Party Chairman of PDP in Cross River State – Ntufam Edim Inok Edim as exhibited on the 30th April, 2020 at the State Party Secretariat.

“His unbrazen attack on the National Chairman and other members of the
PDP National Working Committee (NNC) of receiving a bribe of N150 million naira to release the Exco list which he qualified as fake.”

Their resolution arising from their inaugural meeting with 16 members in attendance was contained in a letter dated 1 March, 2020 addressed to the National Chairman of the party.

The national leadership of the party had on the 26 of April, 2020 in a letter signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd) addressed to the State Chairman, Ntufam Edim Inok and copied the State Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade conveyed the list of the party’s ward executive committee members which was rejected by Edim Inok and the Ayade led administration.

At the inauguration, the State party Chairman was barred from the venue, our newsroom learnt. Subsequently, Edim Inok held a press conference at his office where he denied the list.

The national leadership of the PDP has issued a disclaimer urging the public to disregard any other list in circulation apart from that earlier signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd).
