EDO 2020: What Benin Kings Told Oshiomhole And Ize-Iyamu When They Knelt To Beg Them For Support Chuks01

While some say that it is a mark of respect, or says that Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu are desperate to win the September 19 Governorship election. Ize-Iyamu had highlighted some things the current administration of Obaseki is doing which has not helped the people of Edo State. According to him, Governor Godwin Obaseki’s style of administration is elitist which has detached itself from the people with wrong policies which have not solved the problem of the people. The APC candidate stated that the security situation of the state has worsened because the current administration has not investment properly in the security sector. He lamented that the Governor has refused to work with the traditional rulers and community leaders who are close to the people, and possession of relevant intelligence reports.

Ize-Iyamu also criticized Obaseki’s government for the shortage of teachers in schools in rural communities. He stated that most of the schools in the rural areas have one teacher a situation which has led to poor performance at external exams and low enrollment. Ize-Iyamu promised to reverse the failure of the current government and run an all-inclusive government which will partner well versed traditional rulers who know the developmental needs of the local people.

Adams Oshiomhole on his own part apologized to the Enigies for supporting Obaseki in 2016 whom he said has abandoned the projects his administration initiated and frittering away the trust and resources of the state on ineffectual consultancies and MOUs. He also apologized for all the things he said against Ize-Iyamu whom he referred to as a Pastor. He stated you can never know a man until you trust him with power.

But after Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu had spoken to the Enigies with Ize-Iyamu presenting his Simple Agenda manifesto, His Royal Highness, Edomwonyi Iduozee Ogiegbean, who spoke on behalf of the Enigies expressed their non-partisanship and gave him their blessings for his governorship bid. It is expected as traditional rulers are not meant to take sides with political parties but educate their people on the need to make right choices on the day of election.

Adams Oshiomhmole is strongly in support of Ize-Iyamu as the next Governor of Edo State after he fell out with Godwin Obaseki. The political battle between Obaseki and Oshiomhole began last year when the two could not agree on certain issues which led to Edo APC having two factions. Also, the disagreement that broke in the statement House of Assembly and the subsequent suspension of Adams Oshiomhmole as a party member in Edo State caused alot of rancor between supporters of Obaseki and Oshiomhole

The height of it was the disqualification of Godwin Obaseki from the screening committee for APC Governorship primary over alleged discrepancy in his certificates. This was what made Obaseki defected to the People’s Democratic Party where he is the candidate and has the full backing of his fellow South South Governors. The PDP had flag off its campaign in Edo State on Saturday which saw top PDP members in Nigeria in attendance.

Adams Oshiomhmole who condemned Pastor Ize-Iyamu four years ago by calling him all kinds of names is now taking him round Edo State to ask the same people who he told that he cannot be trusted with money to vote for him. Alot of political analysts are watching to see how Osho Baba as he is fondly called with use his influence to convince Edo people to vote for Ize-Iyamu.

The September 19 Governorship election will be a tough battle between Godwin Obaseki and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

It is the good people of Edo State that will decide who will be the next Governor.
