Enugu offers to pay medical bills of road accident pupils

Enugu State Government has promised to take care of the medical bills of Presentation Nursery and Primary School pupils, involved in last week’s ghastly road accident in the state.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who disclosed this yesterday, when he led prominent Igbo leaders to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku/Ozalla, to empathise with the victims, urged the hospital management to give the victims adequate medical attention.

The Igbo leaders include the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo; Deputy Minority Leader and member representing Aninri/Awgu/Oji-River Federal Constituency, Toby Okechukwu; Member representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, Cornelius Nnaji; Chairman, Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, Amb.

Lawrence Agubuzu; wife of the former Premier of the Eastern Region and Nigeria’s first President, late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, among others.

Ugwuanyi, who wished the pupils and other victims quick recovery, comforted their parents to have faith in God, as his administration will do everything possible to ensure that they recover fully.

The Governor had earlier expressed the deepest commiserations of the state government to the families of the school children, who died and sustained injuries in the fatal road accident.

He also commiserated with the Catholic Bishop of Awgu Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev John Okoye, the Chairman and people of the council over the tragic incident.
