Federal Government Announces That These N-Power Applicants Will Have Advantage Over Others

TRACKING____The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, has announced that although due diligence would be resorted to during the selection process, some persons are going to be prioritized than the others.

The online application and registration for the N-Power scheme which is an initiative of the Muhammadu Buhari administration began on the 26th of June 2020 and was intended to close on the 26th of July but was extended by two weeks, finally coming to its end on Sunday, 9th August, 2020, after the registration portal for the exercise was closed.

At the close of the registration portal, the government announced that over 5 Million Nigerian youths had applied to benefit from the program which is open to Nigerian youths between the ages of 18-35. Both graduates and non graduates.

The government also revealed that out of the over 5 Million youths who applied for the scheme, only 400,000 will benefit from it. Meaning that over 91% of those who applied for the scheme would be disappointed.

The N-Power programme was introduced by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration on the 8th of June, 2016, as a component of the National Social Investment Program, with its aim being the provision of large scale structural and relevant work skills acquisition and development.

The government also pointed that that apart from the reason stated above for the introduction of the programme, it was also introduced to help beneficiaries of the scheme to learn and practice most of what is necessary to find or create work.

Speaking to the media about the programme, Sadiya Farouq, stated that even though due diligence will be adhered to during the selection stage, to ensure that only applicants who are duly are enrolled, women and persons with disability will be prioritized during the selection process.

The Minister also promised to keep the general Nigerian public intimated of the progress of the scheme.
