Four aspirants reject APC Senatorial primary in Delta State.
Four All Progressives Congress aspirants for Delta South Senatorial election on Wednesday evening, rejected the party’s primary poll to elect a candidate for the 2019 general elections.
The aspirants are Chief Michael Johnny, Air Vice Marshall Henry Okorodudu, and two others.
They consequently called for a direct primary election to elect the party’s Senatorial candidate.
Chief Michael Johnny who represented the aspirants, said, “You are aware of developments relating to the processes leading to the conduct of the APC primary in Delta South Senatorial district.
“It is sad and unfortunate that the National Chairman and the entire APC machinery have taken sides with all plans perfected to subvert the electoral process in favour of an anointed candidate.
“Up till the time of this press conference, (6.40pm), we as aspirants in this election have yet to be informed of the right venue, modalities and conduct of the election; that is, we were left in total darkness.
“In defence of democracy, therefore, we have decided to take the following courses of action: We totally reject the processes so far put in place for the election and call for direct primary election.”
The aspirants stated that they would “institute legal processes,” which they said were expected to rectify the alleged anomalies.
They called on their supporters to be law-abiding and shun all indecent and illegal behaviours.
