TRACKING>>The Chairman of Bayelsa State Land Use and Allocation Committee Mr. Joseph Akedesuo has said that His Excellency, Governor Henry Seriake Dickson has done a lot in the area of Housing Development in the State.

Mr. Akedesuo disclosed this while speaking to news men in Yenagoa. He said that apart from the new Yenagoa City project that is coming with all the trappings of a modern city, the Restoration government of Governor Dickson has also developed housing projects in the State.

According to him the Restoration government has developed over 100 housing estate units in Anyama Ijaw and another one in Okaka having a plan of 12 flats in a block, stressing that so far, more than four of those 12 units of two storey buildings have attained roofing level.

According to Mr. Akedesuo whose passion for service delivery is unprecedented said that as fervent believer of the Restoration Agenda of Governor Seriake Dickson, the goverment has done well in his construction of 700 units of affordable low cost houses in Agbura Housing Estate and other projects in State. He said further that provision is also made for people who are capable of building houses of a certain level of aesthetics where they can express themselves but within the development brief of the Ministry of Lands and Housing.

“I’m passionate about building because I was General Manager, Housing and Property Development Authority in Bayelsa State during Alamieyeseigfrom government. As a matter of fact, I was redeployed from Protocol to Housing and property development in Alamieyeseigha’s regime. I was retained by Governor Jonathan when he became Governor. It was during his tenure, when I was still Housing and Property Development Authority Manager, that we built the 27 units of 4 flats, and another avant-garde residential area, though not as big as the new Yenagoa City.

“And that project, if you ask people they’ll tell you, was delivered in about four and half months. I delivered it in four and half months. 27 units. The estate is still there, it is called Azikoro Estate. And as a matter of fact, that project was one of the basis for which President Jonathan, when he was aspiring to be Governor, was chosen by President Olusegun Obasanjo. In fact, Obasanjo wondered at a time, when he was going round, wondered if the project was actually existed before or after Jonathan assumed office. And I think he got an answer to the affirmative. That’s why I’m passionate about housing “, he said.
