N-Delta youth group urges President Buhari to appoint Chief Nengi James as PAP Coordinator
TRACKING __YENAGOA- A youth group in the Niger Delta, styled Niger Delta Deliberators(NDD), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint Chief (Dr.) Nengi James-Eriworio to fill the vacuum of the Special Adviser and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme ,PAP.
According to the group, the recommendation of Chief James-Eriworio came as a result of the body’s wide spread consultation with its members across the entire Niger Delta States and stakeholders in the Niger Delta.
The President General and Secretary of the group, Barr. Okorodas Kenneth and Barr. Daubriyaibo Epebiyeri in a letter to Recommendation Letter to President Buhari, pointed out that “there is the need to quickly appoint a substantive Special Adviser to the President and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Program to ensure a proper coordination of the Presidential Amnesty Program that will bring about the much desired peace and development in the Niger Delta in line with the law Establishing the Presidential Amnesty programme.”
The letter read: “We write as representatives of Niger Delta Youths under the umbrella of the above mentioned body World Wide to recommend Chief (Dr.) Nengi James as special Adviser/Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme.
“This recommendation came as a result of the body’s wide spread consultation with its members across the entire Niger Delta States and Stakeholders in the Niger Delta.
“Your Excellency, we have no hesitation whatsoever in the person of Chief (Dr.) Neingi James to you for the said appointment who will further drive the agenda and laudable programs of your Excellency’s administration.
“We humbly urge Your Excellency to kindly grant this request as it is in the overall interest of bringing the needed peace and development of the Niger Delta in particular and our Nation, Nigeria at large and/or alternatively in other position as Your Excellency may deem it fit to direct.”
Chief Nengi James-Eriworio is a Community Leader, Philanthropist, Humanitarian and a Peace Advocate.
He is the founder and Executive Director of Nengi James Foundation, Talent Search and Advancement Initiative, Rural Chiefs Peace and Development Initiative (Association of Rural Chiefs) and Leader of King Koko Movement, Non-Governmental Organizations (officially registered with Corporate Affairs Commission) dedicated to Philanthropy, Innovation, Creative works, Talent Hunt, Mentorship, Entrepreneurship Development and Advocacy.
A graduate of Public Administration, University of Port Harcourt, Nengi James has contributed to commentaries and articles on Local and National issues of Public Interest on both Local and National Media.
His areas of interest include Environment, Human Capacity Building, Development and Peace Advocacy. He has worked as a correspondent to both the electronic and print media.
As a custodian of the culture and traditions of the Nembe, Ijaw cum Niger Delta people, he took after his Late Father Chief Eriworio Full James Gam-Dede who was an Oral Traditional Historian and Custodian of the Native Culture and Custom of the Nembe-Niger Delta People.
He is a contributor to books like ‘Oil violence: the Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons in the Niger Delta, Oil, Democracy, and The Promise of True Federalism in Nigeria and a Co-author of the Book named Kule (a cultural dance – poetry collection of the Ijaw-Niger Delta titles) among others. Chief Nengi James is a member of many socio-cultural and Non-profit making organizations that contributes to humanity and national development in Nigeria. Chief Nengi James is also a Patron, a mentor, an adviser, and a trustee to several groups within and aside Bayelsa State.
He belongs to numerous professional bodies like the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Nigeria Environmental Society (NES), Nigeria Gas Association, Institute of Chattered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Chartered Institute of Practicing Professional, USA Society for Peace Studies and Practices (SPSP), member, National Think Tank Group andamong others.
As a God fearing man, Nengi James believes in the principle of life for all irrespective of tribe, class or religion.
Currently he is the Chairman, Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) Bayelsa State Branch and the co-coordinator of Association of Rural Chiefs of Nigeria.
Recently, he was honoured as Gesiyemiowei 1 of Bayelsa State and Sei-Ebi-Dou-Owei of Niger Delta, also a Patron of Boys Brigade Delta State Nigeria and that of Warri Battalion Council and also Adviser, National Youth Council of Nigeria, National Secretariat, Abuja.
Finally, Alabo (Chief) Nengi James is known as a United Nation – POLAC Peace Ambassador, a Cultural Ambassador, Environmentalist, Civil Rights and Freedom Activist, A Mentor, A Rotarian, A Public Policy Analyst, a Member World Peace Prayer Society, and also a Member Central Representative Advisory Committee of HYPEREP (OGONI Cleanup project). A recipient of over 80 awards. He is married with a thriving family.
