Obaseki Grants PDP’s Request To Use Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium For Primaries

TRACKING___The Edo state government has granted the application made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to use the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium for its governorship primaries scheduled for June 19th and 20th.

In a letter signed by Osarodion Ogie, Secretary to the State Government (SSG) which was addressed to the PDP state chairman in Edo state, Tony Aziegbemi, the state government also thanked the PDP for “its cooperation and compliance with the extant COVID-19 regulations in the state”.

“ For the avoidance of any doubt, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is granted approval to use the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium for its party primaries scheduled to hold on the 19th and 20th of June, 2020” the letter stated.

In a gazette published last week, Governor Obaseki expressly forbade any social or political gathering in any part of the state involving more than 20 persons at a particular time.

The gazette also stipulated that Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin-City should be the venue for all large political gatherings in the state who must not be more than 5,000. Such gatherings must also be expressly approved by the governor.
