Insecurity: Nigerian Governors Form Security Team, Back Tech-Driven Solutions

Amid rising insecurity, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has established a sub-committee to collaborate with security agency heads for immediate interventions.
Announcing the move after the NGF’s meeting in Abuja, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma said the decision followed a presentation by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) on a technology-driven security initiative. The plan includes deploying advanced surveillance systems and crisis management tools nationwide.
The forum, chaired by Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, endorsed the proposal and emphasized the need for coordinated, tech-based responses to security threats.
The NGF also discussed land reform proposals by the Minister of Housing, Ahmed Dangiwa, and a private-sector partnership to overhaul power distribution infrastructure.
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani stressed the need for state-level policing, noting that while governors have limited constitutional roles in security, collaboration among all stakeholders is crucial.
