ONDO 2024/ Akeredolu’s ex-deputy Agboola wins PDP governorship election primary.

A former deputy governor in Ondo state, Hon Ajayi Agboola has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election in the state.

Agboola polled 264 votes at the party primary held on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

He was followed by a former member of the House of Representatives, Kolade Akinjo, who got 157 votes.

Agboola was the former deputy governor to the late governor Rotimi Akeredolu before they parted ways following irreconcilable differences.

Attempt to impeach Ajayi during the crisis between him and the late Akeredolu failed.

He will be contesting against another Akeredolu’s deputy and incumbent governor of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa who was the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the election held on Saturday to Sunday, Aiyedatiwa amassed 48,569 votes in the primary to beat his closest rival Mayowa Akinfolarin who polled 15,343 votes in the election.

Olusola Oke’s 14,865 votes got him the third position. The governor lost Ilaje LGA to third-placed Oke.
