Former Communications Minister and Director General of the Asiwaju Tinubu-Shettima Coalition for Good Governance, Adebayo Shittu, has stated that former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has bitten the finger that fed him.
On Friday, July 6th, some All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftains warned Nigerians against voting for any joint ticket that does not represent Christians and Muslims, claiming that the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had made a fatal mistake that would end his presidential ambition in the February election.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and Lawal were among those who urged Nigerians to reject the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and Lawal have both urged Nigerians to vote against the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket.
Lawal and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Yakubu Dogara, were among those who urged Nigerians to reject the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket.

In response to Lawal’s anti-Tinubu campaign, Shittu told Punch that Lawal was once close to Tinubu and that his actions were a betrayal.

He said: “You cannot force an unwilling horse to drink water. Babachir is the closest Nigerian to Tinubu, and he has been touting this even when we were together as members of the same Federal Executive Council.

“He also never fails to mention that it was even Tinubu who recommended him to Buhari for the position of the SGF. If he now thinks the proper thing is for him to bite the finger that fed him, it is up to his conscience.”
