DESOPADEC, Deltans’ saving grace from flooding – Gov. Okowa
Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa today said citizens of the state didn’t feel the negative impacts of the recent flood due to the swift intervention of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC at providing the Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, Camps across the state.
Governor Okowa made the assertion at the commissioning of primary health care equipment provided by DESOPADEC to over 268 health facilities in the state.
The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Chief Patrick Ukah said, “people didn’t see Delta State as worse-hit by the recent flood.”
While pointing out that there were 11 IDP camps in the State, noted that DESOPADEC had 4 of the 11 IDP camps, while the commission provided and supplied relief materials to all the IDP camps.
“We give God glory that we were proactive,” he said.
The governor who commissioned the health facilities also commended DESOPADEC for the equipment to the health care sector.
He urged the various council chairmen in the state to put into good use the facilities to the benefit of the people of the state.
Earlier in his remark, DESOPADEC Managing Director, Bashorun Askia Ogieh said the provision of health facilities is the commission’s way of contributing to nation-building.
