DSS, security agencies meet in Abia to synergize efforts

The first quarter 2023 meeting by the South East Zonal State Directors of Security has been held in Umuahia, Abia State capital with a call for the sustenance of peace and security in Abia State and the entire South East.

The meeting which took place at Abia State Command Headquarters in Umuahia, was approved by the Director General, Department of State Security, Magaji Bichi.

Speaking during the event, the Director of DSS Abia State Command, Friday Onuche said the conference was to collaborate and synergies to see what each security agency is doing differently to bring peace as well as check the challenges faced in the zone and provide solutions.

Giving a remark on behalf of the Director General State Services Bishi Magazi, the Chairman, South East Conferences of State Director of Security and SDS Enugu State, Mr Aminu Hena, FSI said the meeting should have been held at the first quarter of the year but was shifted due 2023 general elections.

Hena told other security agencies that the meeting holds quarterly and rotationally between all the States in the South East, adding that it accords opportunity to deliberate and analyze the challenges in their respective states.

Speaking on behalf of all the security agencies in the state, the Commander 14 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi said security agencies have been collaborating effectively in the state adding, that security is not a one-man business.

“We come together to deliberate on the issue of security and analyze those areas that are peculiar to the state and the environment”

Adetuyi noted that relatively, Abia is one of the most stable and secure states in the South East Zone because of the collaborative efforts of different security agencies.

In his remarks, Abia State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Sopuruchi Bekee thanked security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace in the state and pledged the continued support from the Abia State government to security agencies
