El-Rufai commissions N2.5bn rice mill, shopping mall in Kaduna

The governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai has commissioned a N2.5 billion rice mill with a 100,000 metric ton capacity per annum.

The FaL Gate Rice Mill is an agric and agro-allied company which has the largest rice mill in Kaduna State, located at Sobawa, Rigachikun.

Speaking at the just concluded 7th edition of the Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KadInvest 7.0), the governor who was accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe and other senior government officials, praised the proprietor, 32-year-old Sadiq Falalu, for investing in Kaduna.

He pointed out that the future of Nigeria is in the hands of young people and entrepreneurs, so they must acquire skills for the task ahead.

He noted that the rice mill is not just the largest in Kaduna State but the whole of Nigeria, adding, “What the young entrepreneur did is an evidence of what the young people are doing to take over the future.”

Speaking at the event, the proprietor of FaL Gate recalled that the journey of setting up the rice mill started in 2016, when he approached the Kaduna Investment Promotion Agency (KADIPA) for land allocation.

“Afterwards, the company set up the largest rice processing plant in Kaduna State, with processing capacity of about 300 metric tons per day, that is over 100,000 metric tons per annum,” he said.

Sadiq thanked Governor El-Rufai for approving the company’s land application and for providing all the aftercare services rendered by KADIPA, the Kaduna State Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), Kaduna State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KASUPDA) and the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology.

According to him, “FaL Gate employs over 400 people and has created 1,000 indirect jobs, which has built a school for Sobawa community with over 50 students.”

Gov commissions Galaxy Shopping Mall in Kaduna

Governor El-Rufai, Friday, also commissioned multi billion naira Galaxy Mall as part of the 7th Kaduna Economic and Investment Summit (KadInvest 7.0) which kicked off on Thursday.

The Galaxy Mall, with Shoprite as anchored tenant, is one of the completed projects commissioned by the governor as part of KADInvest 7.0.

Other projects commissioned are Afex along Zaria-Kano Highway, Ammsco Neighbourhood Center on Race Course opposite Murtala Mohammed Square, Safe City Project in Abakpa, the rebuilt Ungwar Rimi Market in Ungwan Rimi, Muwaffac Estate, Rhyeno and Nurus Siraj Estate all in the Millennium City with the latest including groundbreaking of new sites.

Speaking at the commissioning of the mall, located by Murtala Mohammed Square in the city center, which houses Shoprite and spaces for cinema hall, restaurant, and variety of shops and spaces for commercial activities, Governor el-Rufai said the mall will boost economic activities in the state, create jobs and improve social live.

The Managing Director of Kaduna Market Development and Management Company, Tamar Nandul, in her remarks, said the Galaxy Mall is a 3,000m² mall located on an 11,000m² space, built on public-private partnership (PPP), adding that the development partners, Amsalco Group contributed N800 million while Kaduna State government contributed N1.5 billion to the development of project to the multi billion naira project.

The event was attended by the 14th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, who is expected to speak at grand finale of KADInvest 7.0 on today.
