Onyeneke emphasized the importance of proactive measures such as clearing waterways of debris to prevent flooding. He expressed concern over the nonchalant attitude of many residents towards preparing for potential flood disasters. He urged state and local governments to provide machinery and manpower to help vulnerable communities prevent floods.
Furthermore, Onyeneke suggested the establishment of make-shift camps in riverine areas to accommodate individuals who may be displaced by floods. He also called for government agencies and NGOs to engage in extensive public engagement to educate the public on protecting the environment and farmland from flooding.
