NEMA Confirms Real Cause of Ibadan Explosion; Says Casualties Too Early to Confirm
The Nigerian Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has given updates on the explosions that rocked Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Tuesday.
NEMA said the explosions was caused by suspected Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). Agency officials however did not state who was responsible for the possession of the devices as investigations continue.
There have been suspicions that the explosives were contained in a some vehicles parked in Oyelese Street, by Adeyi Avenue.

NPO Reported Tuesday night in the wake of the tension that the explosions emanated from a private residence.
A statement by the agency said it got a distress call at about 7:30pm saying, “On arrival at the scene it was observed that it was a suspected explosion of IED which affected over twenty houses. Casualty figures can not be ascertain for now. Search and Rescue operation is still on going.”
Saying the situation has been brought under control while arrangements are going on to ensure smooth operation, NEMA said all security agencies including police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Directorate of State Security, State Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Army, Federal and State fire service, Nigerian Red Cross, State ministry of Environment, Amotekun Corps were deployed to the scene. “Security has been beefed up in the area while arrangements for more support to facilitate the operations are in progress,” NEMA stated
