Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu has been advised to focus on how to address the infrastructural challenges in Abia State rather than following Gov. Nyesom Wike around the globe by Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, in power in the state. Ogbonnaya previously served as commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs.

The recent meetings in London with Governors Ikpeazu, Wike, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, and presidential candidates of major parties were criticized as a diversion by Chief Ogbonnaya, the Abia State Cordinator of the Campaign Council of the PDP’s Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar.

Ogbonnaya, who was a guest on a live radio program that Vanguard in Umuahiia was listening to, stated that Ikpeazu should focus on how to address the infrastructure issues afflicting Abia State right now.

He claimed that rather than serving the interests of the state, Ikpeazu’s affair with Wike “is all about his personal interest.”

I’m from Abia, and I don’t think Wike is qualified to talk about the advantages of being from Abia. We face issues of our own.

“The breakdown of the infrastructure is currently Abia State’s biggest issue. In Abia, observe the federal roads. They cannot be driven. Going from Umuahia to Owerri or Umuahia to Port Harcourt and Akwa Ibom is challenging. Bende and Arochukwu Roads are impassable.

Why do I need to go make an appointment right now other than for the benefit of my people?

Additionally, the ally of Atiku urged Governor Ikpeazu to speak with the party’s local elders in order to identify the needs of the state for further articulation at the national level.

“With all due respect, I request that my governor locate the state’s elders. To negotiate on behalf of his people, no man travels alone. He should contact the elders. Before him, there were others present. To express what we desire, a town hall gathering is required.

“We want a free trade zone, and we want the federal government to construct the natural seaport that God granted us at Obehie. What is going on with the rail line connecting Maiduguri and Port Harcourt?

According to Ogbonnaya, the Campaign Council is working harder to get Abia voters to support Atiku. He claims that, in contrast to some people’s fears, Atiku’s presidency will protect the interests of the South East.

He characterized Atiku as a leader who might get Nigeria out of its current predicament and a unifier.

Atiku is one Nigerian that I am aware of who does not belong to a tribe. Since I started following him in 1994, I have come to feel that he is a true Nigerian, a tremendous unifier, and someone who cherishes Nigeria’s unity.

“Regardless of their tribe, Atiku believes in smart people. People from all throughout Nigeria who work for Atiku can be seen when you visit the American University he owns. Visit his farm, factories, and business; they are run by the best minds in the nation.

In order to avoid their current difficulties under the current administration, Chief Kingsley Megwara, Director of Media, Publicity, and Strategy for the Atiku Abubakar presidential organization, warned Ndigbo against “placing their eggs in one basket.”

If elected, he claimed that Atiku would immediately restore the economy and mend the wounds of the nation’s numerous resentful groups.

Similarly, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere, secretary of All Igbo Youths for Atiku, predicted that Igbo youths would support Atiku significantly more than they did in 2019.
